MovieTime gives back |
We return the goodwill of our customers, by giving back to community groups and organisations. Below are some of the groups we have assisted so far. |

|
Rotorua Rocks for Christchurch
Layla Robinson's initiative in 2011 was to raise funds for the city of Christchurch by putting on an all-ages rock concert featuring some of New Zealand's top rock acts.
We had lots of support from local businesses and national bands and raised awareness for the city of Christchurch, but due to low ticket sales we were unable to cover costs of the event and therefore raised no funds for Christchurch :-( |
|
 |
Brain Injury Association of NZ
The Rotorua regional association of provides education, advocacy, support and information to any person with a brain injury and their families and carers. |
In 2010, MovieTime's Layla Robinson initiated and organised the most unique fundraising event Rotorua had ever seen, the Rotorua Zombie Walk. The walk took place in late October and we raised over $2,700 for Brain Injury Rotorua. The walk was held again in 2011 and $1,400 was raised for the organisation (shame about the rain!). |
 |
Rotorua SPCA
A non-profit organisation that relies solely on donations, sponsorships, bequests and volunteers to continue their vital work for the animals of Rotorua. |
| MovieTime has worked with the Rotorua SPCA since we opened, helping to raise funds by running the 'Cans for Critters' promotion; getting donations of canned and dried goods for the animals as well as financial contributions. We have welcomed the SPCA sausage sizzlers to our shop as well as purchasing 50 cupcakes for MovieTime members during the 2010 Cupcake Day! |
 |
Heart Foundation of New Zealand
The Heart Foundation of New Zealand supports the community, researchers & medical professionals, reducing heart disease through education & intervention.
|
| MovieTime have been collecting for the Heart Foundation since 2008 and have so far raised over $180 in donations from generous store members putting their change in our collection box. |
 |
Ngongotaha Skate Competition
In 2009, MovieTime's Layla Robinson organised Ngongotaha's first skate competition, inviting skate store greats, Alta to help host the event. It was hugely successful with hundreds of attendees and over 100 competitors.

| Read about the Skate Competition on Alta's Blog. |
 |
Progress Ngongotaha
MovieTime's owner, Layla Robinson has been a member of the Progress Ngongotaha Committee since 2008. Offering her time and advice assisting the committee with their many initiatives for the safety and growth of the community.
|
 |
Ngongotaha Fire Camp
Fundraising for the Ngongotaha Volunteer Fire Brigade's Fire Camp, happening right here in October 2011.
|
Ngongotaha Clubs and Organisations
Many local clubs and organisations come to MovieTime Ngongotaha for sponsorship of events and competitions. The local school children come in for sponsorship for 40 Hour Famines, Relays and Spelling Bees, and MovieTime are always happy to help out where we can.
We have donated prizes to the Kaharoa School Gala, the Pink Walk, the Ngongotaha School and the Kiwi Culture Day amongst others.
Being in a position to be able to give back to the community is what business is all about. You support us and we support you in return.
If you have an event you would like help with, you can only but ask and if we can help, you can be sure we will! |
